Jayadevan TR
Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, success remains just out of reach?
That was me, a relentless dreamer who refused to give up, even when every path seemed to lead to a dead end.
I’m Jayadevan TR, and my story is one of perseverance, self-discovery, and the profound impact of micro habits on transforming a life riddled with failures into one brimming with purpose and fulfillment.
The Early Years: The Hustle Never Sleeps
Equipped with a bachelor’s degree in computer science earned in 2005, I stepped into the world with ambition coursing through my veins. I believed that with hard work and determination, anything was possible. My professional journey began in 2006 as a call center manager—a role that taught me invaluable lessons about communication and leadership. But my heart yearned for more.
By 2008, I dove headfirst into web development, captivated by the endless possibilities of the internet. I was eager, driven, and ready to conquer the digital world.
Trying It All – and Facing the Sting of Failure
Over the years, I threw myself into every opportunity I could find:
-
Blogs and eCommerce Brands: Venturing into online businesses to tap into emerging markets.
-
Digital Arts and Ads Management: Exploring creativity and the dynamics of digital advertising.
-
Freelance Services: Offering graphic design, web design, email marketing, and funnel creation.
-
Consulting Services: Guiding others in marketing strategies, mindset cultivation, and productivity enhancement.
I tried it all, pouring my heart, soul, and countless hours into each venture. I took loans from friends, spent sleepless nights hunched over my computer, and pushed myself to the brink of exhaustion—all in the hope of “cracking the code” to success.
But despite my relentless efforts, I failed—over and over again. Each failure was a heavy blow, chipping away at my confidence and leaving me questioning my path. I hated every second of it, yet I couldn’t bring myself to quit. The passion that once fueled me was replaced by frustration and self-doubt.
The lack of sleep, burnout, and skipping meals led to me being diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 30.
The Turning Point: Embracing Micro Habits
One day, after yet another project fell flat, I found myself at a crossroads. I was tired—physically, emotionally, and mentally. I realized that something had to change. It wasn’t that I wasn’t working hard enough; if anything, I was burning myself out. The problem was deeper—I needed a new approach.
That’s when I stumbled upon the concept of micro habits. The idea was simple yet profound: small, consistent actions could lead to significant, lasting change. It was a revelation.
I began to reflect:
-
What if I stopped trying to overhaul my life overnight?
-
What if I focused on making tiny, manageable changes instead?
-
Could these small steps really lead to the success I’d been chasing?
With a mix of skepticism and hope, I decided to give it a try.
Rebuilding from the Ground Up: One Small Step at a Time
I started by setting modest, achievable goals:
-
Morning Rituals: Instead of trying to transform my entire routine, I committed to drinking a glass of water each morning and spending five minutes planning my day.
-
Learning and Growth: I dedicated just 15 minutes a day to reading or taking an online course a positive video, feeding my mind without overwhelming myself.
-
Physical Well-being: Rather than forcing myself into intense workouts, I began with a short walk around the block.
These micro habits were small, almost insignificant on their own, but they were consistent. And slowly but surely, they began to make a difference.
I noticed that:
-
My energy levels improved: The simple act of hydrating and planning my day set a positive tone.
-
I felt more focused and motivated: Those 15 minutes of learning reignited my passion for knowledge.
-
My mood lifted: Regular movement, even in small amounts, boosted my mental well-being.
-
Short walks turned to long walks: Short walks gradually turned into 6km evening beach walks, feeling the waves touch my feet. The earthing effect had a profound impact, providing significant benefits to my overall well-being.
-
Trying new things: I began gardening, cultivating a variety of vegetables for my personal consumption. This practice not only provided fresh, nutritious food but also offered a sense of fulfillment and connection to nature.
-
Reversed my diabetes: All these small steps helped me reverse my diabetic condition, allowing me to stop all medication and regain my health.
For the first time in a long time, I felt a spark of hope.
This renewed hope became the driving force that propelled me forward, encouraging me to embrace each day with a new perspective. The small changes were beginning to take root, and the progress, though gradual, was real. I started to believe in the power of consistency, and that belief brought with it a sense of purpose I hadn’t felt in years.
Rising Strong: Building a Successful Enterprise
In 2011, with renewed energy and clarity, I decided to take a bold step forward. I launched my first full-service agency, but this time, my approach was different. Instead of trying to conquer everything at once, I applied the principles of micro habits to my business strategy.
-
Focused Efforts: I concentrated on one project at a time, giving each the attention it deserved.
-
Continuous Improvement: I embraced feedback and saw setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow.
-
Building Relationships: I made it a habit to connect with clients and colleagues regularly, fostering trust and collaboration.
Not every project was a hit—most didn’t succeed—but I didn’t let that deter me. The ones that did succeed gained the right attention and made a real impact.
By 2018, my agency had grown and evolved. I transformed it into a private limited company, and today, I am proud to be the Founder and CEO of a successful IT company. The very micro habits that helped me rebuild my life became the foundation of my leadership style and business philosophy.
Beyond Business: Finding Joy in the Journey
But perhaps the most significant change wasn’t in my career—it was within myself. I rediscovered joy and purpose. I learned to:
-
Embrace the Present: I found satisfaction in the daily process, not just the end results.
-
I Cherish Quiet Moments: Taking time for myself has allowed me to truly reflect, fostering a deeper understanding of my emotions, desires, and purpose. These moments of stillness have helped me reconnect with who I am, providing clarity that guides my decisions and growth.
-
Prioritize Well-being: I made time for rest, recognizing that a good nap could be just as productive as hours of work.
-
Nutritious Food: well-planned intake of nutritious food played a crucial role in restoring my health and vitality.
-
Cultivate Passions: I indulged my love for reading, gardening, cycling, and exploring new technologies, not as means to an end but as fulfilling activities in their own right.
I realized that success isn’t just about achievements or accolades—it’s about living a life that feels authentic and rewarding.
Sharing the Lessons Learned
My journey wasn’t easy, and it certainly wasn’t linear. I’ve faced more failures than I can count, but each one taught me something valuable. I learned invaluable lessons from my failed attempts at starting and managing an ecommerce business, and other small ventures.
Each failure provided insights that shaped my understanding of what works and what doesn’t. These experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of refining my strategies—lessons I now share with others who are on their own entrepreneurial journeys….
I built resources like this website, my upcoming book, the community, the articles, and online courses to share these lessons with you.
I am not saying I am a perfect example or role model. I still make mistakes, procrastinate, and sometimes lose track. It’s normal as a human being. However, I now get back on track faster because I know that implementing micro habits can help me conquer new bad habits.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck, to pour everything you have into something and see little in return. But I also know that change is possible—that by shifting your focus to small, consistent actions, you can transform not just your circumstances but your entire outlook on life.
You don’t have to burn yourself out trying to make monumental changes overnight. Start small. Be patient with yourself. Celebrate the little victories. And most importantly, keep moving forward.
A Message to You
If there’s one thing I hope you take away from my story, it’s this: Failure is not the end—it’s a stepping stone. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, to adjust, and to grow. By embracing micro habits, you empower yourself to make lasting changes that align with your true self.
Your journey is uniquely yours, and while it may be filled with twists and turns, know that you have the strength and resilience to navigate it. Trust in the process, believe in your potential, and remember that every great achievement starts with a single, small step.
Apply these micro habits (Apart from main course, i have several micro habit lessons specifically designed for special needs and skills) to your current projects, aspirations, and goals. Let them be the driving force that transforms you into the person you truly want to become.
Thank you for allowing me to share my story with you. I’m excited for the journey ahead of you, and I hope that the insights and tools i share in this website, books, and online courses will serve as a guide and inspiration.
